Hi Lynne,

Thank you very much for your comment. I'm glad to hear that you found the Govilon website useful. We're doing alot of work behind the scenes on the new website and hope to start relaunching it shortly. The new history site will have digital census records from 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 and 1891. There will also be a database of photos of the village (from our village photo book) and updated walk guides. The new visitor & community site will be brought up-to date and include a new community blog with contributions from our local county councilor - Christine Walby. I'll let you know when we're ready to put everything live!

As for the walks, we currently have one planned for this year, but are aiming for another two by the end of the summer. The first walk will take place on Saturday 28th February between 2 and 4 pm as part of the Crickhowell Walking Festival. You can find out more about this walk on their website - http://www.crickhowellfestival.com/2009/site/walk-programme/saturday-28th-february/. I believe that the walk will be based on our "Green Trail" which covers the Forge & the Railway (http://history.govilon.com/trail/green).

I hope to see you there!

Hi!

Just to let you know that there are people out here who do actually use the Govilon website you helped develop! I lived in the village, '64-7 and had occasion to go back recently as an elderly relative, now living in Abergavenny was taken ill, so I took the opportunity to wallow in nostalgia and walk around the village. The information boards were great and informative, and the book I got from the village shop was wonderful. I have been checking back regularly as I have been visiting Aber regularly, and had wondered why the list of walks (which I would like to go on) hadn't been updated. Now I know I shall be keeping on eye out for the next one. I'm also doing my family tree, so the census pages, grave inscriptions etc. have been really useful. Good luck with the updating.

Welcome to the competition! :D I am looking forward to reading regular posts here, as you mentioned you always seem to post interesting meaningful things (rather than my life blurb).

PS that's a great photo
